High resolution spectra

All files are available at:

The parameter range of the grid is

ParameterRangeStep size
Teff [K]2300 - 7000100
7000 - 12000200
log(g)0.0 - 6.00.5
[Fe/H]-4.0 - -2.01.0
-2.0 - +1.00.5
[α/M]-0.2 - +1.20.2

Alpha element abundances [α/M]≠0 are available for -3.0≤[Fe/H]≤0.0 only.

Each spectrum is a single file in the directory of its metallicity, e.g. PHOENIX-ACES-AGSS-COND-2011/Z-0.5/lte05800-4.50-0.5.PHOENIX-ACES-AGSS-COND-2011-HiRes.fits for Teff=5800 K, log(g)=4.5, [Fe/H]=-0.5. For [α/M]≠0 the alpha value is appended to both the directory and the file name, e.g. Z-0.0.Alpha=+0.20/lte05800-4.50-0.0.Alpha=+0.20.PHOENIX-ACES-AGSS-COND-2011-HiRes.fits. The wavelength grid is the same for all spectra and stored in WAVE_PHOENIX-ACES-AGSS-COND-2011.fits in the top directory.

Medium resolution spectra

All files are available at:

Medium resolution spectra are provided in two different resolutions and wavelength ranges:

ResolutionRangeDirectory
Δλ=1Å3000-10000ÅA1FITS
R=100003000-25000ÅR10000FITS

For both the sampling rate is twice as high as the resolution. In case you are interested in a medium resolution grid with another resolution and wavelength range that might be of interest for the public, let us know and we will make it available for download.

The grid contains the metallicities from [Fe/H]=-2.0 to +1.0 with a step size of 0.5 plus the extra low abundances of -3.0 and -4.0. Alpha element abundances [α/M] from -0.2 to +1.2 (Δ=0.2) are available for -3.0≤[Fe/H]≤0.0.

Each directory contains one zip file per [Fe/H] and [α/M], e.g. A1FITS/PHOENIX-ACES-AGSS-COND-2011_A1FITS_Z-0.0.zip or R10000FITS/PHOENIX-ACES-AGSS-COND-2011_R10000FITS_Z-0.0.Alpha=+0.20.zip.

FITS files

Please not that the units for mass and luminosity are wrong in the FITS headers, see the correction below!

The FITS files available for download contain the following FITS keywords:

Keyword Description
PHXTEFF [K] effective temperature
PHXLOGG [cm/s2 ] log (surface gravity)
PHXM H [M/H] metallicity (rel. sol. – Asplund et al 2009)
PHXALPHA [a/M] alpha element enhancement
PHXDUST [T/F] Dust in atmosphere, always F for this grid
PHXXI L [km/s] micro-turbulent velocity for LTE lines
PHXXI M [km/s] micro-turbulent velocity for molec lines
PHXXI N [km/s] micro-turbulent velocity for NLTE lines
PHXMASS [g] Stellar mass
PHXREFF [cm] Effective stellar radius
PHXLUM [erg/s] Stellar luminosity
PHXMXLEN Mixing length
PHXBUILD Build date of Phoenix
PHXVER Phoenix version
DATE [local] finishing date of model calculation
PHXEOS Equation of state

The medium-resolution spectra define their wavelength grid by a set of four FITS keywords:

Keyword Description
CRVAL1 Wavelength of reference pixel
CDELT1 Wavelength grid step size
CRPIX1 Reference pixel coordinates
CTYPE1 Type of wavelength grid

The type of the wavelength grid is WAVE/AWAV for vaccum/air wavelengths and WAVE-LOG/AWAV-LOG if the wavelengths are given in logarithmic values.

Model with disabled convection have an additional keyword PHXCONV with the value F. Furthermore for those spectra that are the result of an interpolation, we added the keyword INTERPOL with the value T.

For the high-resolution spectra there is also a second FITS extension in the file containing a binary table listing all the element abundances that have been used in the model.
